About Seven Sundays
Seven Sundays is a US-based cereal company with a strong focus on natural ingredients and low environmental impact. The founders started with a brand idea after discovering New Zealand-style muesli on a trip. They got to work on their first own recipe at the kitchen counter, and eventually started selling at local farmers' markets in Minneapolis.
That early traction grew into a full direct-to-consumer brand. Seven Sundays now sells a range of high-protein, low-sugar, gluten-free, and non-GMO cereals through their Shopify store and in retail locations across the US.

Seven Sundays' product specifics
Seven Sundays operates primarily as a DTC ecommerce brand. Their product catalog spans several distinct cereal categories, each with multiple SKUs and size options. Their lineup spans sunflower cereal, oat protein cereal, grain-free granola, muesli, protein oats, and newer products like PB Puffs and Little Crispies.
The brand’s mission is grounded in real ingredients, transparent nutrition, and breakfast that works harder – a positioning that resonates with health-conscious consumers who read labels and buy deliberately.

Which challenges the client faced
The Seven Sundays team came to DigitalSuits with several needs across different timelines.
- A flexible bundle experience. Seven Sundays wanted customers to build their own cereal bundle in two size configurations: a 3-pack and a 6-pack. Both needed to support one-time purchase and subscription checkout. There was no app on the market that handled this combination cleanly within the existing theme, so the only path was building a custom feature for Shopify bundles without a third-party app.
- Visibility into monthly bundle performance. Once bundles were live, the team needed a way to track how they were selling – which products were being bundled, in what quantities, and when. Shopify’s native reporting doesn’t break down custom bundle transactions in that level of detail, so a separate reporting mechanism was required.

- Accumulated technical maintenance. Over time, the store had accumulated routine debt: checkout scripts that hadn’t kept pace with Shopify’s updated standards, redirect configurations that were inconsistent, DNS settings that needed correcting, and SSL-related items. None of these were critical on their own, but together they added unnecessary operational risk.
- Accessibility compliance. As awareness of digital accessibility standards grows across US ecommerce, Seven Sundays wanted to ensure their store met current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) requirements. Their site scored 57% against WCAG 2.2 criteria – functional for most users, but with real gaps that excluded people relying on screen readers, keyboard navigation, or assistive display settings. They came to DigitalSuits for a thorough audit and remediation.

Solutions we've implemented for Seven Sundays
Custom bundle builder with 3-pack and 6-pack variants.
We built the bundle builder from the ground up inside Seven Sundays’ Shopify theme using Liquid templates and custom JavaScript.
Now, customers can browse the full cereal catalog, hit “Add to bundle,” and build their selection in either a 3-pack or 6-pack configuration. They can adjust the quantity of any individual product and remove items before checking out.
At checkout, they choose between a one-time purchase and a subscription with four delivery frequency options (every 2, 4, 6, or 8 weeks) and a 15% discount applied automatically on subscription orders.
The builder handles how bundles display in the cart, on packing slips for the fulfillment warehouse, and throughout the order flow.

Monthly custom Shopify analytics and reporting for bundles via AWS SES.
We built an automated monthly reporting pipeline that pulls Seven Sundays’ bundle transaction data and generates a formatted report delivered by email via AWS SES.
Each report details how many bundles were sold, which products appeared in them, and the period breakdown, giving the internal team a consistent monthly view without manual exports or extra dashboards.

Shopify technical maintenance: checkout scripts, redirects, DNS, and SSL.
We audited the store’s checkout scripts and upgraded them to Shopify’s current standards, replacing deprecated patterns that had been accumulating since earlier implementations.
Redirect rules were reorganized and cleaned to eliminate broken paths and protect SEO equity. DNS server settings and SSL configuration were reviewed and corrected, closing gaps that could affect uptime or email deliverability.

Accessibility remediation – from 57% to 95% WCAG 2.2.
We improved accessibility scores through Shopify integration, choosing the tool best suited to the company's purpose – the UserWay accessibility app, which gives users control over contrast, text size, and display settings.
Then, we moved into the backend issues the audit surfaced. That included correcting heading hierarchy across page templates, adding missing alt texts to product images and collection images, fixing link descriptions that were empty or ambiguous, and addressing failing elements in hero sections, banners, and the site header.
After remediation, the store scored 95% on WCAG 2.2, with zero critical issues remaining.

Results of the Seven Sundays project
The custom bundle builder became the core purchase mechanic for Seven Sundays' most engaged customers – those who buy in volume, set up subscriptions, and return on a predictable cadence. Both size variants (3-pack and 6-pack) are live and actively used, with subscription orders running across all four delivery frequencies.
Bundle sales in numbers. A two-month snapshot from May–June 2026 shows the builder pulling real weight:
- 2,861 individual bags sold through the bundle builder in just two months
- ~$21,900–$25,800 in estimated gross bundle revenue for the period

- The monthly Shopify sales reporting automation with AWS SES gave the internal team a structured, automatic view of this performance – no manual exports, no extra dashboards.
- On the technical side, the checkout upgrades, redirect cleanup, and DNS and SSL corrections brought the store onto a solid foundation without requiring a full rebuild.
- The accessibility work brought its own clear outcome: Seven Sundays moved from 57% to 95% WCAG 2.2 compliance and cleared all critical issues. The store is now genuinely usable for shoppers with visual, motor, and cognitive disabilities – and meets the standard US ecommerce brands are increasingly held to.
Whether it's a feature that doesn't exist yet, a technical problem you've been deferring, or a compliance gap you're not sure how to close – it all starts the same way. Reach out to DigitalSuits, we'll take it from there.

Frequently asked questions
Why did Seven Sundays need a custom bundle builder instead of an off-the-shelf Shopify app?
The requirement was specific: two size variants (3-pack and 6-pack), each supporting both one-time and subscription checkout, with per-item quantity controls and correct display in the cart and on warehouse packing slips. Off-the-shelf bundle apps tend to handle one purchase model or the other. Combining both within the same flow and keeping the cart and fulfillment logic consistent required a build from scratch inside the theme.

What does the AWS SES monthly report actually contain?
The custom Shopify analytics and reporting for bundles pulls transaction data for the calendar month and delivers a structured email summary via AWS SES. It shows which bundle sizes were ordered, which cereal products appeared in them and in what quantities, and how totals break down across the period. The Seven Sundays team gets this automatically each month without logging into Shopify or exporting data manually.
Why is WCAG 2.2 compliance important for a US ecommerce brand?
WCAG 2.2 is the current international standard for web accessibility, and it’s the benchmark US courts and regulators use when evaluating whether a digital product is accessible.
For an ecommerce store, compliance means that users with visual, motor, or cognitive disabilities can browse products, read content, and complete purchases without hitting barriers.
Beyond the user experience argument, meeting WCAG 2.2 is increasingly considered standard practice for US brands that serve a broad audience – and a 95% score with zero critical issues gives Seven Sundays a documented, defensible record of that commitment.
What backend accessibility fixes made the biggest difference?
The highest-impact fixes were in areas screen readers and keyboard-only users rely on most.
- Heading hierarchy errors meant the page structure didn’t parse correctly for assistive technology. We corrected this across product and collection page templates.
- Missing or empty alt texts on images and links meant blind users received no context for those elements. We added descriptive alt text across the catalog.
Taken together, these backend changes did a lot for the accessibility score along with the UserWay widget.
