Shopify July ’25 Digest – The Latest Updates and Improvements for Merchants

Shopify July Digest

Traditionally, we continue to inform you about Shopify updates so that you keep up with the latest news for better functionality of your stores. In July, we have quite a lot to reveal. This article will provide you with the details about multiple features and improvements, as well as how to benefit from them to take your online business to the next level. Many of these changes also open new opportunities in Shopify web development, helping you tailor your store more effectively to your business needs.

Shopify’s new features in July 2025

Shopify new features in July 2025

New Shopify features are available across six categories – International, Admin, Inventory, Online Store, Customer Accounts, and Collective. What are these features?

Tax and duty customization for B2B

Shopify now supports tax and duty customization on B2B markets for international selling. This new feature lets merchants with a Shopify Plus plan define how taxes and duties are displayed across different B2B locations, plus specify different pricing strategies for B2B and B2C markets. You can choose from three options on how to display taxes to your customers:

  • Dynamic tax display to automatically localize taxes based on the customer's region.

  • Show as included to add tax in the total at checkout for every customer in a market.

  • Show as line item to add taxes as a separate line item at checkout.

These updates are particularly useful for merchants expanding globally. If you're looking to adapt to these changes effectively, services like Shopify internationalization and Shopify Plus development can ensure a seamless and scalable implementation.

New set of inventory reports in Analytics

If you use new Shopify Analytics, you can now leverage new inventory adjustment reports in the Analytics → Reports section of your admin. To find the list of reports, you need to filter the list using the Inventory category.

The new reports let you track changes in inventory across all SKUs and locations, view a detailed history of inventory adjustments, monitor incoming shipping orders, and analyze transfer orders between locations.

Image generation in the file picker

You can now generate images using the Shopify AI tool right in the file picker when editing products in your admin. This feature lets you create custom images without any external tools in a matter of seconds.

Once an image is created, you can either keep it or discard changes for a new try.

Shopify Collective is now available in 36 additional countries

You can now use Shopify Collective in 36 more countries for better collaboration options. How does it work? First, you need to install the Shopify Collective app if your store is eligible. Subsequent steps depend on your business role.

  • If you're a retailer, you can connect with other retailers to sell each other's products. The products you wish to sell in your store are integrated into your catalog, while orders are automatically processed and forwarded to the partner for fulfillment.
  • If you’re a supplier, you can distribute your products through existing Shopify stores in the collective network.

The order processing, payments, and fulfillment management between brand partners is automated through the platform.

Customize text on the sign-in page for customer accounts

You can now update the text appearance on your customer sign-in and one-time-passcode pages in the theme content editor: Online Store → Themes → Edit default theme content → Customer accounts.

This feature helps you match this text with your store’s brand voice and provide a tailored sign-in experience for your customers. If you need though to deeply change your store UI or add complex features we recommend opting for professional Shopify customization services.

Bulk CSV importing for inventory transfers

You can now create inventory transfers by uploading a CSV file with product variants and quantities. This feature will help retailers to transfer large volumes of stock between different locations and track these transfers. Instead of manually adding items one by one, you can now download a template with product quantity and import the file to populate the transfer automatically.

New theme code editor

Shopify presented a new theme code editor that’s now available right in the Shopify admin (Online Store → Themes → Edit code).

With this editor, you can search for desired functionality across all your theme files. You can also use LiquidDoc for real-time code completions and parameter validation for your Liquid snippets. To access the editor, go to Online Store → Themes and choose ‘Edit code’ from a three-dot menu.

See more details on how to edit your theme code in the help center. However, note that you should only go editing if you’re experienced in Liquid, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript coding. Otherwise, your actions may be harmful to your store.

Web pixels load on customer accounts and order status page

You can now track customer journeys, from the beginning till the end, since with the July updates, Web pixels automatically load on Customer Account and Order Status Pages. To enable this feature, your store must use a custom domain for customer accounts.

Issue refunds to store credit when processing a return or exchange

You can now select store credits as a refund method when you process returns. This feature helps you ensure that you keep money in your business and increase customer retention.

Except for using solely store credits for refunds, you can also combine them with other payment methods and set an expiration date for store credits in customer accounts.

Shopify July improvements

The Shopify team not only rolls out new features but continues working on the existing ones to bring an exceptional customer experience. In July, you can find improvements in the following categories: B2B, Apps, Analytics, Discounts, International, Themes, and Admin.

Discounts on fulfilled items

You can now apply discounts to both fulfilled and unfulfilled items, which helps handle partial refunds through discounts, eliminating the need for manual work. Additionally, you have less manual work for archiving and unarchiving orders when making changes, for they will now automatically unarchive for editing and re-archive after issuing a refund.

With the Shopify July updates, you can capture email and SMS marketing consent using one of the three options:

  • ‘On form submission’ signs up a customer for marketing implicitly.

  • ‘On form submission’ adds a marketing consent checkbox to your form, which needs to be selected to receive marketing messages.

  • ‘Don’t subscribe customers to marketing’ lets you turn off subscriptions for customers who fill your form.

These options give you more freedom on how to use forms depending on their purpose.

Flow adopts version 2025-01 of the GraphQL Admin API

Shopify Flow now uses version 2025-01 of the GraphQL Admin API to build automations and integrations that extend the Shopify admin. See more information on this matter in the Shopify documentation.

Ship and carryout on POS now supports Shopify Tax

Your in-store customers can now carry out some items of their POS order with them while shipping others to their address. This is especially helpful if a customer wants to buy some items or get a discount on a product bundle, even if some of its items aren’t available in the current location. The Ship and carryout feature now supports Shopify Tax in the US, EU, and UK, as well as Avalara Tax Compliance, Vertex, and other registration-based tax engines.

Visual editor for POS customization

Shopify now lets you customize your POS screens, such as smart grids, customer displays, and lock screens, using a unified visual editor to ensure consistent POS experiences across multiple devices. To find this feature in your Shopify Admin, go to Point of Sale → Settings → Customize.

Image ALT text can now be translated

You can now improve your store accessibility and search engine optimization by translating your image ALT texts to local languages. This can be done through importing a CSV file. See more details on how to do this right here.

With the Shopify July improvements, you can combine discount codes from shareable links with other codes at checkout in your combination settings. To make this discount combinable, go Discounts, click the desired discount you want to combine with another one, and in the Combination section select the discount classes you want the discount to be combined with.

Before this update, the system would remove existing discount codes applied in a cart when a customer added a code through a link.

Improved theme discovery and install experience on the Shopify Theme Store

Shopify Theme Store has been improved to let merchants find a theme that matches their preferences and launch it faster. Which improvements can you see in the new version?

  • Over 800 industry-related themes are available with features and designs tailored to specific categories, such as beauty and pets.
  • Smarter filters by industry and feature ensure an improved browsing and search experience, narrowing the number of options to choose from.
  • Pre-configured theme files let you launch your theme faster with less setup effort, since the template comes with the same content and features as the demo store.

If you're planning to create a theme that is fully aligned with your business logic and preferences, try using Shopify theme development services by our team that ensure perfect functinality and UI for online stores.

Manual payment methods now support multi-currency checkouts

Manual payment methods, such as cash on delivery (COD), money orders, and bank transfers, now have multi-currency support for merchants who use Shopify Markets and Shopify Payments. This way, customers can see manual payment methods in their local currency on checkout and receipts, while merchants with Shopify internationalization demands can configure currencies in Markets.

Manual payment methods for B2B

Your B2B customers can now use manual payment methods at checkout if you have configured such payment options. At the same time, you can display different payment methods to different buyer types, such as B2B and D2C, using Checkout Blocks for customization of payment methods availability.

Shopify Email now automatically filters out bot-generated subscribers from email lists

Shopify Email now comes with a new filter that automatically removes bot-generated subscribers created from email lists before sending a campaign. This enhancement is supposed to improve email performance and reduce costs for email marketing since the number of emails you send gets lower.

Version 1.0.5 available for Horizon themes

The New Horizon theme version includes a number of improvements in accessibility, localization, and overall performance. What has been added, fixed, and changed?

  • Product card global settings now include ‘show second image on hover’ and ‘show carousel’ options.
  • The Hero section in the theme editor is now clickable.
  • The new unitpricewith_measurement filter simplifies unit price rendering.
  • The editor state manager now saves the state of overlay elements in the theme editor.
  • Accessibility of the mega menu has been improved, as well as for quantity input and price components.
  • Image blocks now have better image border logic.

The Shopify team also implemented several fixes that previously had adverse effects on performance and user experience. Learn more about all Horizon features here.
