How does Shopify Flow work?

Shopify Flow works through a trigger-condition-action (TCA) model:
- Trigger. Something that initiates the workflow, such as the arrival of a new order, or a decrease in inventory level.
- Condition. A criterion that determines whether the workflow proceeds after the trigger.
- Action. The automated response, such as tagging a customer, sending an email, or updating stock levels.
Example workflow: When a trigger occurs, then Shopify Flow can automatically add a “VIP customer” tag to the buyer (action).
Common use cases of Shopify Flow
- Order management. Sorts and processes orders based on shipping method, location, or other attributes.
- Fraud prevention. Removes or tags high-risk orders and marks suspicious emails.
