About the client
Our client’s mission is to help ecommerce companies get funding to scale their businesses without cash flow holding them back. The company supports sellers on Amazon, Shopify, eBay, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Wix. Eligible merchants can request funding using our client’s platform and receive the necessary capital for their growth.
On top of that, the client’s team provides AI-driven financial planning tools and cash flow management solutions that help merchants optimize their processes.
About the product
To offer their existing customers – Shopify merchants – an inventory management tool to prevent going out of stock, the client decided to create their own solution: a Shopify app for tracking stock levels.
This app had to be listed in the Shopify App Store and easily integrated with the client’s platform. The DigitalSuits team became a technical partner for this project thanks to our in-depth expertise in Shopify app development and a number of successfully listed public Shopify apps.

Challenges of inventory monitoring app development
The main challenge was new, more complicated Shopify requirements for listing apps and updated rules to comply with the Shopify App Store standards. At that time, Shopify had established app development guidelines and a strict listing procedure.
From a technical point of view, we had to create an app with access to protected data, such as sales statistics, which also raised some legal concerns. Another requirement for the project was a complete rebranding of the inventory management system design and naming compared to the initial project.
Solutions
We began the project with meticulous planning, based on the requirements provided by the client and the Shopify rules we needed to meet. We approved the scope of work and created a backlog in Jira for further inventory tracking app development and testing. Which solutions did we implement?

We selected APIs for interacting with Shopify data and implemented the logic to track stock levels and notify merchants when the stock reaches a certain threshold.

Our team implemented a user-friendly inventory management app UI design, allowing store owners to keep an eye on inventory without overly complicated workflows.

We also enabled Shopify merchants to select additional metrics they would like to track for running targeted campaigns and creating special offers.

While we were developing the app, the client’s team created a new branding for the project. We adapted the app to meet the new branding requirements and legal details.

We implemented secure authentication and authorization methods to ensure compliance with Shopify's data protection policies.

Once we developed the app, our specialists prepared all the necessary information for submitting it to pass all checks and the review process. As a result, the client’s app has been successfully listed in the Shopify App Store.
