Our client is the UK company that works with retailers from around the globe. They help their customers to rebuild online stores and provide digital transformation to ensure business profitability. We cooperate with them on a few projects as Shopify experts. And we want to share a success story of the new Shopify store development and products migration from an old website.

Business needs

The company specializes in selling vegetable and flower seeds, potatoes and onion sets, plants, trees, and shrubs. The company’s history started more than 60 years ago and it has always been successful. The business needs were related to an outdated website design and difficult, labor-intensive process of management (over 6000 items). The client was eager to create a modern website with good usability, marketing features, and an easy-to-use management system.

The client bought the Shopify Theme, and our major scope of work was to provide a redesign, setup new features, and develop a store management system. One of the engaging features was a growing calendar. It helped to track and discover phases of plants growing. We implemented that calendar by using meta fields that were open to be filled out by users.

Another important feature was related to creating a special algorithm for product availability. It also was implemented by using meta fields and Liquid. Depending on the meta field value, an item was shown as available or not, or available for pre-order on the website.


We have implemented our commitments under the contract. The website is working stably. The client and users are satisfied with the result. The design and features totally meet expectations of the target audience.
