Website migration to BigCommerce headless for advanced flexibility and expanding business presence in different countries

Client

Our client OURA, a US-based company, approached us with a need to empower their website and expand their presence in different markets. The company produces different types of textiles: headwear, air masks, skincare exfoliants, kitchen aprons. We were impressed by the company's inspiring core values — donating charities that help children with cancer.

Business needs

The company was ready to expand its business and increase its presence in different markets and locations such as the USA, Canada, Europe, and Malaysia. That’s why they needed a separate store for each market. Moreover, OURA needed to sell in different currencies, but there would be many restrictions and obstacles for using their existing platform. It didn’t support a multi-currency option in many countries, among them Malaysia, one of the targeted markets.

OURA wanted to be flexible, manage content as they needed and expand on detailed product descriptions, as well as add video and photo content. The improvement of the content management system was a high-priority request. Thus, there was a need to change the e-commerce platform to meet new business needs. To avoid marketing restrictions, limited payment options, and improve the content management workflow it was decided to migrate to the BigCommerce platform.

Solution

Our team of engineers advised OURA to migrate to Headless Architecture using BigCommerce, as it is a game-changing business decision to improve user experience. That allows us to improve content management as needed and give more detailed product descriptions.

We developed a new Headless commerce website and integrated it with the admin panel. We installed apps such as Judge.me, ShipStation, and Back-Order plugin. One of the core features was using headless architecture. It means that the client could use website content on various applications keeping custom logic by API. It is a necessary feature if the business strives to sell items on marketplaces or third-party applications. The final result was an e-commerce website integrated with BigCommerce API that operated stock, shipping, and payment service. It helped the business to use the website as a sales tool for targeted markets in the US, Europe, Malaysia, Canada.

One more feature successfully implemented on this project was Amazon CloudFront for frontend deployment. It allowed users to open the website pages fast. Also, that was a cost-effective solution for the client because Amazon supported the service by itself.

Moreover, our team of engineers was also approached to improve the UI/UX. We built on higher-level OURA’s user experience and customer satisfaction and ultimately helped to increase the website engagement and boost their customer retention.

Result

Using BigCommerce API, we implemented Headless Architecture to OURA, and now the company reaps the benefits of this decision. It helps them to easily manage multi-location stores with unique content.

Now our client benefits from:

  • setting up and managing stock and orders easily
  • a wide range of useful apps allowing the business to speed up and simplify the working process
  • expanding detailed product descriptions, using video and photo content without loss of website speed
  • improving customer experience and increasing the number of users and engagement rate

Our engineering team delivered a new website with the vital required features on time and within budget. The client was happy as they had more opportunities to promote their website and sell more items.

This project allows us to demonstrate the business needs of the end customer. This is a cycling retailer in the USA with a few offline shops. He wanted to provide a new service for the customers — to get orders in one of the shops even if spare parts were located in a few warehouses or shops.

Shopify Store Development for a Garden Plants and Goods Retailer

The company specializes in selling vegetable and flower seeds, potatoes and onion sets, plants, trees, and shrubs. The company’s history started more than 60 years ago and it has always been successful. The business needs were related to an outdated website design and difficult, labor-intensive process of management (over 6000 items). The client was eager to create a modern website with good usability, marketing features, and an easy-to-use management system.

The startup founders always think about how to deliver the best services and make customers happy. They faced the situation when it was needed to save all existing user accounts and provide secure migration to the new website. Otherwise, current user accounts would be lost and clients would have to register again.
