Agile methodology is a flexible approach in project management that is used by the software development team to provide accurate estimation, deliver results on time, build a stable working system by breaking up a project into a few stages, and implementing each stage through continuous collaboration with the client. This method allows both parties to have a clear understanding of the tasks, to adjust to new features, to plan and control all stages of the software development process. The agile method responds to changing priorities without going off the rails. Thus, the team has a clearly described scope of tasks to implement, while the customer has a vision of product increments.

There are two frameworks commonly used in the Agile methodology that we work with: Scrum and Kanban.

Scum is a framework for developing, delivering, and sustaining complex products. The development team splits the project into several short sprints. During planning meetings, the team defines the scope of tasks and roadblocks that it needs to overcome. The customer is able to add new features, apply changes to the product backlog and track the status of implementation.

Kanban is a widely adopted framework that focuses on just-in-time delivery of functionality and creates a continuous workflow. In Kanban, all processes are visualized by Kanban cards that are moved through the working process from start to finish. It creates a constant working flow as required by the client.

If the methods listed above don’t suit your project, we also suggest using a mix of these two approaches — Scrumban. Scrumban is a framework that combines the two approaches together: Scrum and Kanban. This method is suitable for projects when structure, clear deadlines, and estimations are needed as well as flexibility. By using this method, the team focuses on strategic tasks and improves processes continuously at the same time. The team benefits from this method if the project requires maintenance, support or managing improvements.
